Seven members of a gang were detained by police in Vemulawada for cheating devotees. The gang claimed to arrange ‘quick darshan’ at Bheemeshwaralayam. Police acted after complaints from several devotees. The gang exploited the rise in visitors before the jatara festival next month to make money. The Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple is under expansion, so darshan and paid services are temporarily arranged at Bheemeshwaralayam for devotees’ convenience. Police advised devotees to buy arjitha seva and prasadam tickets only from official sale counters to avoid fraud.
