The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) will launch the 'Aravalli Satyagraha Yatra' from January 7 to January 20. This protest march aims to stop mining in the Aravalli mountain range. Starting in Gujarat, the Yatra will pass through Rajasthan and Haryana before ending in Delhi. IYC president Uday Bhanu Chib told reporters that the government sent a proposal to the Supreme Court to exclude mountains under 100 metres from being part of the Aravallis. "Previously, a Supreme Court committee monitored mining in the Aravallis, but the Modi government disbanded it," he claimed. He also accused the BJP government of trying to give large parts of the Aravalli range to "close friends" and "industrialists." Chib said, "We will undertake an Aravalli Satyagraha Yatra from January 7-20 to save the mountain range. It will start from Gujarat and end in Delhi after passing through Rajasthan and Haryana." He listed IYC's demands: "The 100-metre criterion should be abolished, the Aravalli region should be declared an ecologically-sensitive area, the Supreme Court order should be reviewed, the government must withdraw its proposal, and mining activities should be completely banned in the Aravallis."
