Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has ordered a three-day Kite Festival at popular lakes in Hyderabad from January 11, 2026. This event will be part of the Sankranti festival celebrations. The Chief Minister asked HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath to invite different groups to the festival. IT professionals and other employees will attend at Tummidikunta in Hitech City. Film celebrities will be welcomed at Nallacheruvu lake in Kukatpally. Sportspersons will participate at a lake in the Rajendranagar area. On December 25, 2025, during a meeting in Hyderabad, the Commissioner updated the Chief Minister on lake restoration efforts within HMDA limits. As the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, Reddy instructed the festival to be organized with the Tourism department. Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao said Ministers will visit the restored lakes in the first week of January to check preparations. Tourism officials announced the International Kite Festival will take place at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad from January 13-15. Additional attractions include hot air balloon and drone festivals around the city outskirts. The Kite Festival aims to celebrate Sankranti, promote lake rejuvenation, and bring together lively crowds with diverse guests.
