The Chitradurga Police have filed a case against the truck driver involved in a crash that caused a fire, killing six people including the driver. The driver, Kuldeep, worked for KMR Roadlines in Haryana and was transporting beverages from Supa, Maharashtra, to Nelamangala near Bengaluru. Kuldeep, from Uttar Pradesh, was alone in the vehicle. Police suspect he dozed off and lost control. However, other drivers at the site noted road diversions near the accident site that require alert driving, making dozing off less likely. Pradeep, a taxi driver, said, “As he was alert while taking diversions a couple of kilometres before, one cannot expect him to fall asleep so soon.” The FIR accuses the driver of rash and negligent driving causing death. Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy confirmed officials are investigating to find the exact cause. “We broadly know the cause of the accident, but we will conduct an in-depth investigation,” he said. Reddy also said the private sleeper bus had all valid documents, including permit, insurance, and licence.
