Karnataka Forest Dept Signs MoU With Bank of Baroda for ₹1 Crore Accident Insurance

Karnataka's Forest, Ecology and Environment Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bank of Baroda to offer accident insurance. Officers and staff will get ₹1 crore coverage for accidental death. Outsourced personnel will receive ₹20 lakh insurance. Environment Minister Eshwar Khandre said frontline staff work day and night to protect forests and wildlife, often facing danger. "This MoU has been signed to provide social and financial security to all of them," he said. The Minister also noted the important role of outsourced frontline staff in conservation and extended insurance to them as well. Bank of Baroda will provide ₹1 crore accidental death insurance to all permanent employees, no matter their salary or rank. If a staff member dies on duty, the bank will pay an additional ₹25 lakh. Employees who keep their pension accounts with Bank of Baroda will have insurance valid up to age 70. The bank will also give life insurance of ₹10 lakh to permanent employees. Mr. Khandre urged awareness for this scheme and instructed staff to open salary accounts with Bank of Baroda.
