FIR Filed After Container Truck Crashes Into Sleeper Bus Killing Several in Karnataka
December 25, 2025
The Hiriyur Rural police have registered an FIR against the driver of a container truck for causing death by rash and negligent driving. This follows a tragic accident on December 25 in Chitradurga district, Karnataka. The truck jumped a road divider and crashed into a private sleeper bus. Several people died in the collision. The truck, owned by a Haryana-based transport firm, was carrying beverages from Supa in Maharashtra to Nelamangala near Bengaluru. Kuldeep, a driver from Uttar Pradesh, was behind the wheel and died in the accident. The FIR does not name the accused or victims as police are still verifying the passengers' names. The case was initiated based on a statement from Sachin, the driver of a private bus carrying schoolchildren who was behind the sleeper bus at the time. Sachin witnessed the accident, and his bus was also damaged. Police suspect Kuldeep may have dozed off and lost control before crossing the divider. The accident spot had two road diversions within eight kilometers due to flyover construction. However, regular traveler Pradeep, a taxi driver, said it was rare for a truck driver to doze off on that stretch. Kuldeep had to take at least two diversions to the service road before the crash occurred. The investigation continues.
