Bengaluru Police Tighten Security, Block Free Access to M.G. and Brigade Roads for New Year
December 24, 2025
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh announced that there will be no free public access to M.G. Road and Brigade Road during the New Year celebrations this year. The police will control and regulate entry to these core celebration areas to avoid overcrowding and allow smooth movement of pedestrians, emergency vehicles, and police units. Mr. Singh said holding areas have been set up to manage crowd flow temporarily and urged citizens to cooperate and plan ahead since free access to Brigade Road, permitted in earlier years, is now banned. The area around M.G. Road is under extensive CCTV and live AI-powered crowd monitoring systems to watch movement in real time. These tools will help identify crowd pressure points early and allow quick police action when needed. The Bengaluru Police have launched a social media campaign named #CelebrateResponsibly, asking people to celebrate respectfully and cooperate with the police. This move aims to keep the New Year festivities safe and orderly for all.
