Cantonment, known for religious harmony, is all set to celebrate Christmas on Thursday, December 25, 2025. Over 10,000 Christians will gather for prayers at the Cantonment Baptist Church, one of the oldest churches in Vizianagaram. The church was built in 1961 and continues to inspire people. "The life and teachings of Jesus Christ continued to guide people and inspire humanity," said R. Madhusudana Rao, chairman of the church. The church also runs service activities during Christmas, welcoming everyone regardless of caste, creed or religion. The CBM School nearby has been educating students from various regions for many years. Other churches like RCM Church and SIIMS Memorial Baptist Church are decorated with lights for the occasion. Political leaders attended semi-Christmas events, highlighting the festive spirit. Vizianagaram MLA Aditi Vijaya Lakshmi greeted the Christian community and said, "Vizianagaram was known for religious harmony and mutual respect among people of different faiths." The celebrations reflect the unity and festive joy across the city.
