Two people died and many were injured after a gas explosion partially collapsed the Silver Lake Nursing Home in Bristol, Pennsylvania. Emergency crews arrived around 2 PM Tuesday after reports of a gas odor. The building exploded upon their arrival, causing a huge fire. Authorities confirmed five people remain unaccounted for, though it is unclear if they are inside the building. Rescue teams pulled residents from windows, elevators, and stairwells. Fire chief Kevin Dippolito said, "There was one police officer who literally threw two people over his shoulders and ran" to safety. Some victims were trapped in the basement but have been rescued. Firefighters continue the search for others inside the damaged building. Governor Josh Shapiro said the cause of the blast is still under investigation and praised the local community's support. He offered prayers for the injured, missing, and families affected during the Christmas season. Social media shows the nursing home with large flames and a collapsed structure as emergency workers battle the fire.
