Cyberabad Crime Drops 1.18% in 2025; Cybercrime Slumps 35.9%, Road Accidents Rise

Cyberabad witnessed a slight fall in crime cases in 2025, with offences dropping from 37,689 in 2024 to 37,243, a 1.18% decline, police said on Tuesday. Cybercrime, the biggest category in 2024 at 32%, shrunk sharply to 21%, falling from 11,914 cases to 7,636 – a 35.9% cut. Losses due to cybercrimes also fell from ₹793.18 crore in 2024 to ₹404.61 crore in 2025. Police recovered over ₹45.51 crore in 539 cases and increased arrests to 917 from 534. Property crimes rose from 12% to 15% of cases. Road accidents climbed 20.34%, from 3,829 to 4,608 cases, though deaths slightly decreased from 856 to 803. Traffic enforcement surged with challans crossing 36 lakh, and total fines more than doubled to ₹239.37 crore. Crimes against women increased marginally from 8% to 9%, with 1,314 dowry and cruelty cases reported. Police enhanced victim support and faster case registration. NDPS Act cases rose from 421 to 575, and arrests jumped from 954 to 1,228. Drug seizures declined to 1,524.909 kg from 2,714.798 kg, valued ₹16.85 crore. Ganja seizures totaled 1,508.794 kg worth ₹8.32 crore. Over 2,730 kg of drugs worth ₹25.44 crore were destroyed. Murder cases fell from 132 to 113, and detection rates climbed from 95% to 98%. Overall major crime detection improved from 80% to 85%, despite fewer cases. Police credit better surveillance, tech use, awareness campaigns, and coordination with banks for positive trends.
