December 23, 2025
Narasaraopet Rural Police in Palnadu district arrested four people late Monday night for car fraud involving fake number plates. Palnadu Superintendent of Police B. Krishna Rao said the case started after a complaint from Pulla Srinivasa Reddy of Vijayawada. He reported that his car was misused after he pledged it. Srinivasa Reddy had pledged his car in August 2024 for ₹1.5 lakh. When he tried to repay and get the car back, the accused refused and changed the vehicle's registration number. The accused continued using the car illegally. Police found a gang of nine involved in similar crimes. They bought vehicles on illegal finance, defaulted on loans, and altered registration numbers. Four accused arrested are Pullamsetti Bhanu Prakash, Pullamsetti Anjaneyulu alias Anji Naidu, Shaik Mohammed Rafi, and Madhyanapu Mohana Satya Srinivas. Police seized 20 cars, including three caught during resale and 17 hidden in different places. They also recovered two spare fake number plates. The police continue to investigate the case and warned taking tough action against such frauds.
