Telangana HC directs petitioner to approach Collector over Shamshabad airport land encroachment
December 22, 2025
The Telangana High Court on Monday directed a petitioner to take his complaint about illegal construction on Shamshabad airport land to the Ranga Reddy district Collector. The petitioner, K. Krishna, had filed a PIL claiming that M/s Vertex Developers LLP had occupied 97.06 acres of airport land illegally and started construction. He also alleged that the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) gave permissions for layouts covering over 4.17 lakh square meters in Mankhal village under Thukkuguda municipality. Krishna wanted the court to order HMDA to cancel all permissions given to Vertex Developers.
However, the bench, led by Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin, declined to pass any orders. They said the petitioner failed to provide clear and full details about the alleged illegal land and how statutory bodies allowed the construction. Chief Justice Singh remarked, "When the bench itself was unable to find specific and full details of the lands allegedly encroached upon, how did the petitioner expect HYDRAA and RERA to respond in the matter?" The court asked the petitioner to make a detailed representation to the Collector who will deal with it as per law.
