Hyderabad’s Osmania General Hospital (OGH) introduced a costly new cataract surgery machine on Monday. Worth ₹26 lakh, this device was donated through the CSR efforts of National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) and supported by the Hyderabad Mavericks Rotary Club. Hospital officials said the machine will boost the number of cataract operations, especially for poor and needy patients who rely on free or low-cost treatment. A hospital statement noted, “The addition of advanced surgical technology will enhance the quality and efficiency of ophthalmic care, helping reduce the burden of preventable blindness among economically weaker sections.” This upgrade promises better eye care for many in need.
