Security forces widened their search area in the forest belt of Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday, December 22, 2025, to track down two terrorists hiding there. The operation, which began on Sunday, December 21, started in the Majalta forests after the terrorists reportedly took food from a house and escaped into the nearby forest. Authorities expanded the cordon and search operation to nearly ten kilometers on Monday morning, supported by sniffer dogs and aerial surveillance, aiming to catch the two terrorists hiding in the Majalta area. This expansion came after the terrorists were sighted for the third time recently, including again on the night of December 21. The joint effort by police and paramilitary forces continues in Chore Motu village and adjoining forest areas, about five kilometers west of an earlier encounter site where a policeman was killed. Officials stated, "An intelligence input was received late Saturday that two unidentified terrorists visited the house of Mangtu Ram in Chore Motu village at around 6:30 p.m. and took food." On December 15, a policeman was killed during an encounter with Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists in Soan village, Majalta area. The terrorists escaped, using thick forest cover and darkness. The search operation remains active as officials work to locate and apprehend the suspects.
