In a major operation, police raided a gambling club in Pothavarappadu village, Eluru district. The team, led by Nuzvid DSP K.V.V.N.V. Prasad, arrested 281 gamblers. They were from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Police seized 130 cars, 40 two-wheelers, about 250 mobile phones, and ₹32 lakh cash. Mr. Prasad told The Hindu, "We arrested 281 gamblers, seized 130 cars, 40 two-wheelers, about 250 mobile phones and ₹32 lakh cash." The club management organized gambling and attracted players from districts including Eluru, Krishna, NTR, East Godavari, Khammam, and Suryapet in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The accused have been booked under the AP Gaming Act, 1974. They, along with the seized items, will be produced in court, said DSP Prasad. This strong police action aims to curb illegal gambling in the region.
