SmartPocket App Launches to Help UAE Students Save 20% on Monthly Expenses
December 22, 2025
Many UAE students struggle with their fixed monthly allowance as living costs rise. To tackle this, two young visionaries, Najib Mikati and Naji Faqihinejad, spent 18 months creating SmartPocket. Launched in October 2025, SmartPocket is a mobile app designed for students aged 12 to 25. It offers discounts from more than 20 brands across food, fashion, electronics, and subscriptions.
Naji Faqihi Al Awadhi, a 19-year-old Emirati and American School of Dubai senior, conceived SmartPocket when he saw his allowance no longer covered rising expenses. "While our monthly allowances from our parents stayed the same, our spending needs naturally evolved," he told Khaleej Times.
The app requires students to verify their status using university emails or Emirates ID, ensuring only genuine students benefit. This step builds trust and prevents misuse. Available on major platforms like Apple App Store, SmartPocket meets security standards.
Users can browse deals in categories like food and cafés, fashion and lifestyle, and electronics. Early data shows students save about 20% on monthly spending. The platform resembles global apps like UNiDAYS but is tailored to the UAE market.
Al Awadhi's early business experience started at 15, helping resell sneakers. This background helped him build SmartPocket from idea to launch. The app offers a reliable, student-focused financial companion to ease the cost-of-living mountain for UAE youth.
