Bangladeshi Man Charged in US for Selling Fake Digital ID Templates Online
December 20, 2025
A Bangladeshi man was charged in the United States for running illegal online marketplaces selling digital templates of fake identity documents. Zahid Hasan, 29, from Dhaka, faces a nine-count federal indictment in Montana. Authorities say he ran two online businesses, TechTreek and EGiftCardStoreBD, from 2021 to 2025. He sold fake digital versions of U.S. passports, social security cards, and Montana driver’s licenses. These fake documents helped buyers open fake accounts on banks, social media, online payments, and crypto sites. Customers paid using virtual currencies like Bitcoin. Prices ranged from $9.37 for a social security card to $14.05 for a driver’s license template. Over four years, Hasan earned more than $2.9 million from over 1,400 customers around the world. The US government seized three of his websites. Visitors now see a message that the sites are under government control. Hasan faces six counts of transferring false ID documents, two counts of false passport use, and one count of social security fraud. If convicted, he could get up to 15 years in prison per ID or passport charge, and up to 5 years for social security fraud. Each count also includes a fine of up to $250,000 and three years of supervised release. US Attorney Kurt Alme and Assistant US Attorney Benjamin Hargrove are handling the case. The FBI announced the charges on social media saying, "Yesterday, a Bangladeshi national was indicted for operating illegal online marketplaces that sold digital templates for false identity documents like U.S. passports and social security cards."
