Director P.T. Kunju Muhammad Granted Anticipatory Bail in Molestation Case
December 20, 2025
A court in Thiruvananthapuram granted anticipatory bail to filmmaker and former MLA P.T. Kunju Muhammad on Saturday. The case involves allegations of molestation made by a woman associated with the film industry. He was accused of the incident at a hotel during the recent International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). Additional District and Sessions judge Rekha R. heard arguments from both the public prosecutor and defence counsel before granting bail. The director's defence claimed the charges were false and noted the complaint was first made to the Chief Minister, not the police. The public prosecutor opposed bail, citing the serious nature of the charges and the need for an unhampered investigation. The court ordered Kunju Muhammad to appear before the investigating officer within seven days and cooperate fully. Police were directed to release him on bail if arrested during the investigation. P.T. Kunju Muhammad is also known as a former Left-supported Independent MLA.
