Shashidhar Kosambe, Chairman of Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, has given officials one month to move high-tension electricity cables and transformers away from school areas. He made this demand during a district-level review on Saturday. Currently, 72 schools are near high-tension cables and 42 have transformers close by. Mr. Kosambe warned, "A suo motu case will be registered if it is not done." He emphasized the need for a safe and fearless education environment. He also asked the Education Department to provide quality grains for mid-day meals. Authorities must complete Aadhaar card verification and seeding for 2.66 lakh children within a week. The deadline to fix birth certificate errors is January 5, 2026. Mr. Kosambe pointed out the need to reduce school dropouts and improve SSLC pass percentages by correcting current mistakes. He stressed following police verification for appointing guest teachers and submitting compliance reports. Each school must display the child helpline number 1098 on their boards. Strict adherence to the Child Protection Policy 2016 is necessary, including good schoolrooms and toilets, ensuring basic needs for every child.
