Kazam Builds Single Platform to Fix EV Charger Issues Across India
December 20, 2025
Bengaluru-based EV software firm Kazam is solving a big problem in electric vehicle charging. Chargers from different companies often don’t work well together. Kazam’s new software lets operators manage chargers from all brands on one platform. The company was incubated at IIM Bangalore’s start-up centre, NSRCEL. Operators struggle not just with installing chargers but also with fixing them quickly. Sometimes chargers stop working due to power cuts, software glitches, or hardware faults. Without clear information, downtime and costs rise, and users face inconvenience. Kazam’s system shows the exact status of each charger remotely. This helps operators find problems fast and reduce downtime and repair costs. The software is ‘agnostic’, meaning it works with chargers from any maker. Most chargers use the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP), a common communication standard, but each manufacturer applies it differently. Kazam works with charger makers to align these differences. Their platform already supports over 1.07 lakh chargers. It monitors chargers live, tracking uptime, energy use, and alerts. This allows for early fault detection and predictive maintenance, cutting losses. Kazam also enables chargers to use local solar and clean energy sources. Their trading system lets businesses and communities share surplus renewable power. This reduces stress on power grids and boosts clean energy. The company is preparing for the future with vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) systems. These will let EVs send power back to homes and grids, making EV charging smarter and greener.
