December 19, 2025
Police in Sydney’s south-west detained seven men on Thursday evening following information that a violent act may have been planned. A New South Wales police spokesperson said tactical operations police responded quickly to the tip-off. "Police subsequently intercepted two cars as part of the investigation. As investigations continue, seven men are assisting police with their inquiries," the spokesperson added. Social media showed images of a white hatchback damaged in a collision, blocked off by police tape at the intersection of George and Campbell streets in Liverpool. The pictures also revealed several heavily armed officers in camouflage gear and men with hands zip-tied, lined up against a fence. Reports said the vehicles had Victorian license plates and were rammed by police before the suspects were arrested. The NSW police spokesperson confirmed, "At this point in time, police have not identified any connection to the current police investigation of the Bondi terror attack." Investigations are ongoing.
