The Cyberabad Police’s 8th Annual Sports, Games and Duty Meet ended with a lively ceremony on Thursday at the Parade Grounds in Gachibowli. Telangana’s Director General of Police, B. Shivadhar Reddy, was the chief guest. He inaugurated the newly renovated police food canteen called The Cop Café, aimed at boosting welfare for police personnel. The DGP was welcomed uniquely when a trained police dog handed him a flower basket, earning loud applause. He then flagged off the 100-metre races, a key event of the day. In the men’s race, Ramesh from CSW finished first, followed by Venkatesh and Vishnu from CAR Headquarters. In the women’s race, Gayathri of CAR Headquarters took first place, with Yamuna second and Renuka of CSW third. Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty praised the participants, revealing that 1,022 officers competed in various sports including athletics, team games, and indoor events over the three days. Another highlight was the badminton doubles where CAR Headquarters DCP Sanjeev and SOT DCP Shoban Kumar defeated Rajendranagar DCP Yogesh Gautam and Madhapur DCP Ritiraj. The DGP presented prizes, with many senior and rank-and-file officers attending the grand closing ceremony.
