The National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided the house of Shahnawaj Alam in Ansar Nagar, Hazaribagh district, Jharkhand, on December 11, 2025. The raid is part of an investigation into his alleged links with ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria). Officials seized a laptop, printer, and other gadgets that might be used in terror-related activity. NIA officials did not reveal details about the contents found. District police confirmed the NIA team conducted the operation based on information from a doctor previously arrested by the agency. This probe follows the arrest of Shahnawaj Alam by Delhi Police Special Cell in October 2023. Investigators believe his terror network may still operate in Jharkhand. Shahnawaj Alam has a criminal background, including jail time for robbery and theft in 2019. After getting bail in December 2020, he reportedly connected with ISIS handlers and played a key role in the Pune ISIS module case. Officials suspect his associates may still be active locally.
