Uttar Pradesh Asks Election Commission for 2-Week Extension to Complete Voter Roll Revision
December 11, 2025
Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, announced that the state has asked the Election Commission of India for an extra two weeks to complete the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. This extension will help district election officers re-check the details of deceased voters, those who have moved away, and those who are untraceable.
Mr. Rinwa shared that 99.24% of enumeration forms have already been digitised. Among these, 18.85%, almost 2.91 crore entries, are “unverified.” These include 1.27 crore voters who have shifted permanently, about 45.95 lakh who have died, 23.69 lakh duplicate entries, 9.58 lakh voters who did not return their forms, and 84.73 lakh absent voters.
Over 80% of the forms have been signed by voters or their family members. The mapping of returned forms with the 2003 voter list has surpassed 76%. Fourteen districts, 132 assembly constituencies, and 1,43,509 polling stations have completed digitisation so far.
Mr. Rinwa urged voters missing from the 2025 list to file Form-6. He also encouraged youth turning 18 on January 1, 2026, to register. He called on all recognized political parties to help verify entries of deceased, migrated, absent, and duplicate voters.
Booth-level officers will provide the verified voter lists to booth agents by December 12. These will be uploaded on the CEO and district websites. The Special Intensive Revision has been in progress throughout UP since November 4, 2025.
