AITC Kerala Denies P.V. Anvar Joining UDF; Plans Independent Election Fight
December 11, 2025
The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) in Kerala has rejected reports that its State convener P.V. Anvar is trying to join the United Democratic Front (UDF). AITC State president C.G. Unni stated on Wednesday that this move is not connected to the party. "The political agenda of the Trinamool Congress is determined and executed by the party’s national leadership. No individual has been given permission to engage in talks with any political front," said Unni. He also clarified that Anvar is no longer associated with Kerala Trinamool. Unni added that the party will contest the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Kerala on its own. He emphasized, "The Trinamool will contest the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Kerala as part of our effort to regain the national party status we once held." Unni also dismissed any role for KPCC president Sunny Joseph and IUML general secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty in shaping Trinamool’s political agenda. Earlier, Sunny Joseph had indicated in a media interview that Congress might include Anvar in the UDF. However, the AITC leadership has firmly denied any such connection.
