Lok Sabha Debates Election Commission's Voter List Revision Amid Claims of Political Bias
December 10, 2025
On the eighth day of the winter session, Lok Sabha continues debating the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise launched by the Election Commission of India. Senior Congress leader Manish Tewari started the debate on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi took over from the opposition side, accusing the Election Commission of working with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party to “shape elections”. Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha is preparing to discuss electoral reforms after covering the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to lead the discussion on SIR in the upper house. The session remains charged as major political figures challenge the Election Commission’s neutrality.
