A 21-year-old man named Keerthi was found murdered at Bittagowdanahalli near Hassan on December 9. The shocking crime came to light after one of the accused, Ullas, posted a video admitting to the murder on social media. Keerthi, who lived in Huvinahalli near Hassan, had gone out for a party with three friends on the evening of December 8. Police suspect these friends killed him. Following the viral video, authorities traced Keerthi's body and opened a case. Keerthi’s brother, Kiran, filed a complaint with Hassan Town Police naming Ullas and others as accused. The police registered the case under the SC-ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, and other relevant laws from the BNS, 2023. Police believe the suspects were under the influence of ganja when they committed the murder and recorded the video later. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the accused.
