On December 9, 2025, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Jammu and Kashmir Police carried out multiple search operations in south Kashmir’s Anantnag. The searches focused on the Hutmurah forest area and around three different locations. Officials said this action followed revelations made by an arrested doctor, Dr. Adeel Rather. Dr. Rather worked as a senior resident at Anantnag medical college until October 24, 2024. On November 7, authorities found an AK-47 rifle in his locker. He is one of two doctors arrested in connection with an inter-State terror module believed responsible for the Red Fort blast on November 10, 2025, in New Delhi. The blast killed 15 civilians. Officials are also investigating Dr. Rather’s brother, Dr. Muzaffar Rather, who reportedly moved to Dubai earlier this year. The NIA continues its probe based on the inputs from Dr. Adeel Rather. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to crack down on terror networks in the region.
